The Gut is a high-current channel situated between Bauza and Secretary Islands in Doubtful Sound. This site features vertical rock walls that descend from 10 to 60 metres, with an average depth of 30 metres. Due to the strong currents and challenging conditions, it is strictly for advanced divers. Access is by boat only. Divers can expect cold water temperatures ranging from 11 to 15 degrees Celsius and variable visibility between 4 and 15 metres. The habitat supports a variety of temperate marine life and invertebrates typical of the region. Divers should be prepared for deep water and potential overhead environments.

Taipari Roa, situated in the inner reaches of Doubtful Sound, offers a diverse underwater environment featuring dramatic rock walls, reefs, and kelp forests. Divers can explore depths ranging from 5 to 35 metres. The site is characterised by a distinct stratification, with a surface layer of freshwater overlying a deeper saltwater layer. Conditions vary, with visibility typically between 5 and 15 metres and moderate currents. Access is by boat only. Due to the cold water, potential for low visibility, and the presence of an overhead environment, this site is best suited for intermediate divers. Snorkelling is also possible at this location.

Taumoana is a marine reserve situated at the entrance of Dusky Sound, New Zealand. This site features wave-exposed rocky reefs that provide a distinct ecosystem compared to the sheltered inner fiords. Access is by boat only. Divers should be prepared for depths starting at 8 metres, with visibility typically ranging between 3 and 10 metres. Conditions are subject to moderate currents and potential surf, making this an advanced dive site. Water temperatures fluctuate between 12C and 17C throughout the year. Night diving is permitted at this location.
