Togo's diving takes place in the Gulf of Guinea along the West African Atlantic coast, centred near Lomé. The two sites in our database, a shore-entry reef and an artificial reef with seagrass beds, suit intermediate divers and are operated by a single local club. Water temperatures are warm through most of the year but dip noticeably in mid-to-late dry season due to coastal upwelling. Visibility is variable and influenced by weather and river runoff, so conditions can change quickly. Species recorded here include Atlantic tarpon, lemon shark, nurse shark, green sea turtle, lined seahorse, and Atlantic goliath grouper, reflecting the migratory and tropical character of this stretch of coast.
