Diving in Latvia

Latvia's dive sites split between cold Baltic Sea wrecks and freshwater quarry or lake diving. The sea remains cold for most of the year, peaking in late summer, and a drysuit is recommended for most dives. Wreck diving draws the most interest offshore, with sites such as Marienburg resting at moderate depths and accessible to beginners, while Ro 24 demands solid buoyancy control in stronger currents at greater depth. Inland, the Dolomite quarry reservoir near Jūrmala and Ogre Lake offer sheltered, current-free conditions well suited to training and introductory dives. Most operators are based in and around Riga.
