Montserrat sits in the Caribbean Sea, and its diving is concentrated along the island's protected west coast, with sites reachable by boat or direct shore entry. The single site currently in our database, Little Bay Beach, is shallow and combines natural reef, artificial reef structures, and a wreck, making it well suited to beginners. Water temperature stays warm throughout the year, rising from the high twenties in winter to thirty degrees in late summer, so a thin wetsuit or swimsuit is sufficient at any time of year. The island's volcanic history has played a part in shaping and rejuvenating its reefs, and divers report uncrowded conditions and a broad range of marine life including sea turtles, groupers, octopuses, and gorgonians.
