Estonia's diving spans two distinct environments: the Baltic Sea coast, where Cold War military infrastructure and protected historical wrecks sit in cold, often low-visibility water, and a collection of inland freshwater lakes and flooded quarries that offer calmer, current-free conditions. Sites range from shallow beginner-friendly lake dives near Väike-Maarja to the submerged Soviet submarine harbour at Hara, near Loksa, with depths reaching thirty metres. The flooded limestone quarry at Rummu is the most photogenic site in the database, containing submerged prison-era buildings and industrial structures. Water temperatures are cold year-round in the sea, while the lakes warm somewhat in summer, bringing the best visibility to sites like Rummu.
