Big Broadhurst Reef and its neighbour Little Broadhurst Reef sit roughly sixty to seventy kilometres offshore from Townsville and are accessible only by boat. Big Broadhurst Reef features brain and acropora coral formations across depths from six to thirty metres, while Little Broadhurst Reef adds wall topography down to forty metres. Both sites are listed as suitable for beginners in calmer conditions, though currents can strengthen, particularly in deeper sections. Species recorded across the area include whale sharks, blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, green sea turtles, nudibranch, pygmy seahorse, and peacock mantis shrimp.
