Thursday Island is a culturally and geographically distinct corner of far northern Australia. The area has warm water year-round, cooling slightly in the middle of the year but never dropping uncomfortably low. Fin's database currently lists one site here, Martin's Mecca, a shallow reef dive accessible by boat and suited to beginners. Conditions can shift considerably between visits, and low visibility is the primary hazard to plan around. The island has deep roots in the pearl-diving industry, and the species list includes tasselled wobbegong, knifetooth sawfish, hairy frogfish, and bluespotted fantail ray.
Fin maps 1 sites in Thursday Island (1 scuba diving sites and 1 snorkelling spots, with some suited to both).
