Twin Peaks is a remote section of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park in the Coral Sea, accessible from Cairns or Cooktown by liveaboard or extended day trip. The five sites in our database cover a range of reef environments, from shallow bommies and coral gardens to a wall at Rainbow Road that drops beyond thirty metres. Depths overall span from five metres to thirty metres, accommodating both beginners and advanced divers, though Rainbow Road demands drift experience due to consistent strong currents. Water is tropical and warm, coolest in the southern winter months. Species recorded include silvertip shark, scalloped hammerhead, common blacktip shark, potato bass, ridley turtle, green sea turtle, painted frogfish, and spotfin lionfish.
