Moucha and Maskali are coral islands in the Gulf of Tadjoura, designated as a marine protected area and sitting a short boat ride from Djibouti City. The site mix spans shallow reefs, walls, drop-offs, a canyon, wrecks, and artificial reefs, with depths running from very shallow to around fifty metres, so both beginners and intermediate divers find suitable terrain. Water temperatures stay warm throughout the year, peaking in late spring and early summer, and visibility is at its best from November to January when seas calm. Expect scalloped hammerheads, grey reef sharks, silvertip sharks, green sea turtles, emperor angelfish, and crocodilefish across the eight sites.
