La Passe is a narrow channel connecting the Gulf of Tadjoura to Ghoubbet al-Kharab, and both sites in our database are rated advanced only. Strong tidal currents funnel through the pass and determine when a dive is even possible, requiring careful timing and experienced current management from all divers. The reef drops from a shallow start to fifty-five metres at La Passe itself, while Little Channel is a wall and reef structure reaching forty-five metres. Visibility shifts with the tide and can range from five to twenty metres. Recorded species include silvertip sharks, whale sharks, bottlenose dolphins, bluespotted fantail rays, and green sea turtles. The best season runs from October to January.
