Alssund is a strait connecting the waters around the island of Als, and the sites here reflect its character as a busy, current-driven waterway. The mix covers walls, wrecks, reef, muck, and drift dives, with depths from barely a metre down to thirty-three on the deeper wreck sites such as Wreck S103. Currents can be strong, particularly at sites like Flydedok and Kaegnaes Faerge, and active boat traffic means a surface marker buoy is essential at most sites. The warmer months see water temperatures rise to a more manageable level, while winter brings near-freezing conditions. Common lobster, conger eel, nudibranch, wrasses, and harbour seal are all recorded here.
