Bohemia's sites are freshwater, so encounters differ from coastal diving. Common Carp and Common Perch are the most frequently observed species, with Catfish and Pike also regularly sighted. Bronze Bream and Chub have been recorded too, though less often.
The majority of sites across Bohemia are rated for beginners, with shore entries and sheltered conditions in flooded quarries. Sites such as Řečice, Lomeček, and Slověnický mlýn are used as practical training grounds. Advanced sites like Hráz Slapy and Borákův mlýn are also available for those seeking deeper, more technical dives.
Slapy and Orlík is the largest sub-area and offers the widest variety of site types, from shallow artificial reefs to deep wreck dives. Prague has a smaller selection of urban quarry sites, including the distinctive wall dive at Velká Amerika. Shore entry is the norm across Bohemia's dive sites, and most can be reached without a boat. A handful of sites also offer boat entry as an option.
