The Southern Black Sea Coast offers a concentrated wreck-diving scene spread across three distinct sub-areas: Sozopol, Tsarevo and Nessebar. Deliberately sunk vessels and naturally settled wrecks dominate the site mix, ranging from shallow, beginner-friendly entries to deeper intermediate dives requiring boat access. Sozopol holds the greatest concentration of sites, including cavern sections at St Ivan Island and the deeper Mopang and Rodina wrecks. Tsarevo centres on the Shipwreck SANNI and a lighthouse artificial reef. Water warms considerably from late summer into early autumn, making June through September the most comfortable window for diving.

Sea Anemone and Mullet are observed across virtually all sites. Seahorse is the signature species of the region, spotted occasionally at sites such as Seahorse Alley and Lagoon in Sozopol. Divers have also recorded Grey Triggerfish, Wrasses, Crab, Bream, Shrimp and Temperate Bass at various locations along the coast.
Several sites are explicitly rated for beginners, including the shallow Shipwreck SANNI near Tsarevo and Seahorse Alley and Lagoon in Sozopol, both accessible from shore. The Aheloy DSD site also provides a gentle introduction close to the beach. Intermediate divers have their own options in the deeper Mopang wreck and Rodina wreck, which require boat access.
Sozopol has the greatest variety, combining shallow reef sites, cavern sections at St Ivan Island and deeper wrecks such as the Mopang and Rodina. Tsarevo is centred on the Shipwreck SANNI and a lighthouse artificial reef, both accessible from shore and well suited to newer divers. Nessebar rounds out the region with a smaller number of sites.
Both options are available depending on the site. Shore-entry dives include the Shipwreck SANNI, Seahorse Alley and Lagoon, the Tsarevo lighthouse reef and the Aheloy DSD site. Deeper or more exposed sites such as the Pioner Wreck, Mopang wreck, Rodina wreck and St Ivan Island require boat access.
