Sozopol sits on Bulgaria's southern Black Sea coast and supports one of the country's highest concentrations of dive operators. The site mix spans wrecks, natural reefs, caverns, and an artificial reef, with depths ranging from very shallow beginner snorkelling at Seahorse Alley up to deeper intermediate wreck dives on the Rodina. The Pioner, a trawler deliberately sunk as an artificial reef, lies within comfortable range for those new to wreck diving. Seahorses are recorded at the shallow lagoon site, while wrasses, gurnard, groupers, loggerhead sea turtles, and gorgonians appear across the area. Water temperatures peak in late summer and drop to around eight degrees in late winter, so a good wetsuit is essential outside the summer months.
