Middle Island lies within the Keppel Islands group off the Capricorn Coast near Yeppoon in Queensland. The sites here are shallow and broadly suitable for beginners, with most diving taking place in the upper portion of the water column. Reef, wall, artificial reef, and wreck structures give variety across the five sites, and access is by boat or a combination of boat and shore entry. Water temperatures are warmest from summer through autumn, dropping to the low twenties in winter. Recorded species include hawksbill sea turtles, golden trevally, humpback batfish, bluespotted fantail rays, and several grouper species. Visibility varies considerably across sites, and moderate currents alongside jellyfish and sharp coral are hazards divers should plan around.
