Flynn Reef is an outer Great Barrier Reef site in the Coral Sea, reached by day boat from Cairns. With nine sites in our database spanning from very shallow coral gardens down to thirty metres, it suits beginners and intermediate divers across a range of terrain: walls, canyons, pinnacles, and drift dives. Water temperatures stay warm throughout the year, dipping to the mid-twenties in the cooler months and climbing towards thirty degrees in summer. Visibility is consistently good, often reaching the upper end of the moderate-to-excellent range. Species recorded include whitetip reef shark, Napoleon wrasse, giant moray, green sea turtle, bluespotted fantail ray, and nudibranch.
