Bermagui sits on the New South Wales south coast along the Tasman Sea. The site in our database, Bermagui Blue Pool, is a natural rock pool offering sheltered, very shallow conditions that suit snorkellers and beginners. Despite its modest depth, the site supports a varied species list: common Sydney octopus, eastern blue groper, crested bullhead shark, fiddler ray, common stingray, and several nudibranchs and sea slugs including Bennett's Hypselodoris and Peron's sidegill slug. Long-nosed fur seals are occasionally sighted. Water temperatures follow the south coast pattern, warmest in late summer and cooling to the mid-teens in winter.
