The Houston Area Quarries are a collection of freshwater lakes and quarry parks spread across the greater Houston region, serving primarily as training and certification venues. Sites such as Blue Lagoon, Lake Longhorn, Mammoth Lake, and Twin Lakes feature submerged wrecks, artificial reef structures, and purpose-built training platforms at depths that suit beginners. Visibility varies considerably across sites, from limited at some quarries to clearer conditions at others. Water warms noticeably through summer and cools again in winter, and more than ten operators based across Houston and surrounding towns run courses here.
