East Texas Lakes covers a small collection of freshwater sites in the eastern part of the state, represented in our database by Athens Scuba Park and Tyler State Park Lake. Both are shore-entry, beginner-friendly, and shallow, with depths capped at ten metres. Athens Scuba Park features a mix of artificial structures, wrecks, and reef, with visibility that can vary widely depending on conditions. Tyler State Park Lake is a spring-fed lake with no current, aimed at divers building confidence or practising skills. Fish species across both sites include catfish, perch, bass, and sunfish. These lakes are practical training and familiarisation destinations rather than wildlife destinations.
