Diving in Faroe Islands

The Faroe Islands sit in the North Atlantic with two dive sites in the database: the Olavur Gregersen wreck and Nolsoe reef. Both are boat-only dives at intermediate level. Nolsoe offers reefs, kelp forests, drop-offs, and caves, while the Olavur Gregersen provides a wreck as the main focus. Water is cold throughout the year, never rising far above ten degrees, so a drysuit is necessary. Visibility is best in winter when plankton levels are low and can be considerable; summer plankton blooms reduce it. Strong currents at Nolsoe require divers to plan entry timing carefully. Species recorded include lumpfish, dogfish, blue shark, skate, monkfish, gurnard, king crab, bobtail squid, and harbour seal.
