The Farilhões are a remote group of islets within the Berlengas Archipelago, reached by boat from Peniche. All five sites in our database are boat-access only, and the topography is among the most varied in the archipelago: canyons, walls, caves, drop-offs, reefs, and a wreck site known as Cemitério dos Navios. Currents and Atlantic swell make several sites more demanding, and Rabo de Asno in particular, with its penetrating cave system, is suited to advanced divers. Water temperatures follow a temperate pattern, coolest in winter and peaking in late summer and early autumn. Nudibranchs are well represented, and gorgonians and wrasses feature across multiple sites.

Temperatures hold around fifteen degrees Celsius through the colder months and reach their warmest in September and October before falling back through winter. Because the sites are exposed to open Atlantic conditions, sea state governs whether trips run at all, and summer offers the most reliable windows. Visibility ranges from a few metres on unsettled days to thirty metres when conditions are favourable.
