Lima's dive sites sit in the cold Pacific Ocean, shaped by the Humboldt Current, which keeps water temperatures between fourteen and eighteen degrees Celsius year-round, dropping coldest in spring. The two sites listed here, Palomino Island and Isla Grande near Pucusana, are both boat-access only, covering reef, kelp forest, and wall environments that descend to forty metres. Divers encounter South American sea lions, loggerhead sea turtles, torpedo rays, gorgonians, conger eels, and scorpionfish. Visibility is typically five to ten metres. A seven-millimetre wetsuit with hood and gloves is recommended. The dry season from May to September generally brings calmer seas.
