Back Beach is a reef and drift site located at the northern end of the Tapuae Marine Reserve. The topography features volcanic rock platforms that provide a rugged environment for both diving and snorkelling. Depths range from 2 to 30 metres, with visibility varying between 5 and 20 metres. Access is via a shore entry, though divers should be aware of moderate currents, surf, and rip currents. The site is suited for intermediate skill levels, with typical dives lasting around 45 minutes. Facilities at the location include parking and toilets, and the area offers views of the Sugar Loaf Islands.
