Maaya Thila is a concentrated cluster of sites in North Ari Atoll built around one of the Maldives' most referenced circular pinnacles, a designated Marine Reserve roughly eighty metres in diameter. The pinnacle itself is subject to strong and unpredictable currents and is best suited to advanced divers, with depths reaching thirty metres and dive profiles averaging around twenty-four metres. Fish Head, also in the database here, is a current-driven reef site reaching forty-five metres and is similarly demanding. The area also includes the shallow Manta Lagoon and Maaya Lagoon, which widen access to beginners and intermediates. Blacktip and whitetip reef sharks, bluefin trevally, giant moray, Napoleon wrasse, and batfish are all recorded across the sites. Calmer seas from December through May make conditions more manageable on the exposed pinnacles.
