Motobu and Sesoko reward patient, observant divers more than thrill-seekers. The site mix leans heavily toward reef diving, with caves and caverns adding structural interest at places like Sesoko Island Labyrinth and Ohoba No.1 Crevasse. Muck and artificial reef sites broaden the variety further. Signature encounters centre on nudibranchs, Peacock Mantis Shrimp and Zebra Lionfish rather than large pelagics. Most sites suit beginners, and several can be reached from shore.

Day Octopus, Zebra Lionfish and Ghost Pipefish round out the highlights.
The majority of sites in the region are rated for beginners, including shore-entry spots like Gorilla Chop and Saki-Motobu. Currents are mild at most locations, and several sites are shallow enough for new divers to build confidence. Sesoko Island Labyrinth also accepts beginners despite its cave and cavern topography, making it a gentle introduction to that style of diving.
Shore entries are available at Gorilla Chop, Ishikiri and Saki-Motobu. These sites remove the need for a boat and offer flexibility for independent divers or those on a tighter schedule. The majority of other sites, including those around Minna Island and Sesoko Island, require a short boat transfer.
Minna Island offers a cluster of boat-access reef sites, including Minna Cable, Minna Port Side and Minna Popeye, with a mix of natural reef and artificial structures across a range of depths. Sesoko Island's main site is its Labyrinth, a cave and cavern reef system accessible to beginners. Both areas share the mild-current, reef-focused character typical of Motobu and Sesoko as a whole.
