Diving in Maumere

Maumere sits on the north coast of Flores in Maumere Bay. Our database currently holds one site, the Wodong Wreck, a vessel resting on a sloping seabed at depths accessible to beginners via boat or shore entry. Visibility at the wreck is variable and can be low, so divers are advised to stay close to the structure. Water temperatures are warm but do ease off slightly in the middle months of the year. The species list recorded here includes hairy frogfish, warty anglerfish, pygmy seahorse, nudibranch, and both blacktip and whitetip reef shark, reflecting the broader mix of critters and larger reef life that Maumere Bay is known for. Several local dive operators are based in the area.
