Komárom-Esztergom is Hungary's most established freshwater diving county, centred on the town of Tata and its surrounding lakes. The Fényes-forrás site features lakes fed by natural thermal springs, with the springs erupting from the bottom and creating a boiling effect in the quartz sand. Water temperatures at the springs remain stable year-round, making diving possible in any season. The county's sites range from shallow spring-fed lakes suited to beginners through to the Banya-To cave system, which reaches significant depth and demands more advanced skills. Species encountered include pike, catfish, European eel, tench, and the rarely seen freshwater jellyfish.
