The Savoie Lakes region covers a cluster of Alpine freshwater sites in the French Alps and surrounding upland areas, reached entirely from the shore. The database includes cave dives at Grotte de la Passerelle and Grotte de la Salamandre, which require advanced and technical cave certification respectively and reach significant depths. Lac de Laffrey offers intermediate-level reef diving, while Fosse Scubawind and Lac de Sollières provide shallow, calm environments suited to beginners. Visibility ranges from limited inside cave systems to a reported thirty metres at Lac de Sollières. Cold water is a constant factor, and a drysuit or thick wetsuit is essential at most sites year-round.
