Bugey and Ain is an inland freshwater diving area with five shore-entry sites, including the quarry at Carrière de Chamagnieu, the artificial reef at Fosse Meyzieu, and wrecks at Plage du Port and Le Port. Sites suit beginners and intermediate divers, with depths reaching up to forty-two metres at the deepest points. Visibility is often limited and can drop to just a few metres, so a torch and close attention to depth are recommended. Cold water persists at depth year-round, requiring suitable thermal protection regardless of season.
