Saimaa and Eastern Lakeland covers freshwater diving across lakes Saimaa and Hoytiainen, with nine sites ranging from shallow reefs to technical cave dives. Sites include walls, wrecks, artificial reefs, and flooded quarries, with depths spanning from surface shallows down to thirty-seven metres. Visibility varies considerably by site, from as little as one metre in the cave at Montola to thirty metres at the shallower reef of Otravaara. Water temperatures stay cold year-round, around three to four degrees Celsius at depth, and all divers should carry adequate thermal protection. Skill requirements range from beginner to advanced, and both shore and boat entries are available.
