Phillip Island's sites sit within the broader southern Australian coast, offering a range of terrain that includes reef, wall, cave, wreck, and seagrass beds. Wilson Promontory is the more demanding of the two sites, with depths reaching fifty metres and moderate to strong currents under open ocean conditions. Walkerville South is a calmer, shallow shore dive on natural reef suited to beginners. Water is cool, warmest in late summer and falling to around twelve degrees in late winter. Notable species include pot-bellied seahorse, long-nosed fur seal, fiddler ray, blue-throated wrasse, and several wobbegong species.
