Flinders Island lies in Bass Strait and currently has one recorded dive site, The Dock, a shore-accessible reef dive suited to advanced divers. Conditions are variable and currents unpredictable, consistent with the island's exposure to the Roaring Forties. Water temperatures range from cold in late winter to their warmest in late summer. Notable species recorded here include ornate and spotted wobbegong, grey nurse shark, green moray, pot-bellied seahorse, long-nosed fur seal, harlequin fish, gorgonians, and squat lobster. A thick wetsuit or drysuit is needed throughout the year.
