Moreton Island sits in Moreton Bay off Brisbane and offers a mix of water environments including estuarine channels, open ocean, and artificial structures. The three sites in our database cover very different diving: Pumicestone Passage is a shallow seagrass and artificial reef shore dive, the Tangalooma Wrecks are fifteen deliberately scuttled vessels resting in shallow water close to the island's western shore, and Curtin Artificial Reef is a deeper boat dive. Tidal currents are a consistent factor across all sites and require careful timing. Species recorded here include ornate and spotted wobbegong, grey nurse sharks, green sea turtles, and common stingrays.
