Yonge Reef sits in the far northern reaches of the Great Barrier Reef, roughly sixty kilometres from the coast, and is reached only by boat from Cairns or Port Douglas. Fin's database lists one site here, a shallow reef dive at a consistent depth of around seven metres. Despite that modest depth, visibility is frequently excellent, often reaching thirty metres. Currents are moderate and can shift, so coordinating entry and exit with the skipper matters. The species list is substantial for a single site and includes whitetip reef shark, grey reef shark, potato bass, giant moray, and titan triggerfish.
