Lizard Island is a granitic island in the northern Great Barrier Reef, sitting within Lizard Island National Park and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. The sites in our database are all shallow, shore-accessible reef dives suited to beginners, with depths reaching no deeper than fifteen metres. Sheltered bays such as Watson's Bay provide calm conditions, and visibility typically spans ten to thirty metres. Divers and snorkellers find green sea turtles, nurse sharks, day octopus, lionfish, triggerfish, and a variety of reef species across the coral gardens. Access to the island is by light aircraft.
