Diving in Upolu Cay

Upolu Cay is a sand cay on the inner Great Barrier Reef, reached by boat from Cairns and falling within Michaelmas and Upolu Cays National Park. The single dive site here suits beginners, with depths from very shallow down to eighteen metres and visibility typically between eight and twenty metres. Currents are generally mild but respond to tidal and wind changes. The reef supports a varied mix of species including grey reef sharks, bluespotted fantail rays, giant clams, giant trevally, and several species of parrotfish, wrasse, and butterflyfish.
