Melville Island offers two dive sites, Snake Bay and Lethbridge Bay Reefs, both reef dives accessible only by boat. Both are rated for advanced divers due to complex tidal movements that can produce strong rips and sweeps, and the presence of saltwater crocodiles demands constant vigilance. Water temperatures are warm throughout the year, peaking in the wet season months. The species list includes tasselled wobbegong, whitetip reef sharks, green sea turtles, painted and hairy frogfish, bluespotted fantail rays, and pharaoh cuttlefish.
