Bathurst Island sits in the Timor Sea as part of the Tiwi Islands, off the Northern Territory coast near Darwin. Access requires permits, and all diving is by boat. The two sites in our database cover reef, wall, and cave formations, with depths reaching into the low twenties of metres. Water is warm year-round, coolest in the middle of the dry season and peaking in the build-up months. Divers report an varied cast of species including tasselled and spotted wobbegongs, painted frogfish, seamoth, oriental flying gurnard, and green sea turtles, alongside common blacktip and sandbar sharks.
