Hat Head is on the mid north coast of New South Wales, where Korogoro Creek meets the Pacific at a shallow estuarine site. The single site in our database is a seagrass environment reaching no more than two metres depth, making it a snorkelling and beginner dive rather than a technical outing. Entry is from shore, and timing around high tide is important as outgoing tides reduce visibility and rip currents can develop near the creek mouth. Water is warm through summer and mild in winter. Species recorded here include spotted wobbegong, marble ray, green moray, grey nurse shark, and painted sweetlips.
