Crescent Head is a small coastal town on the New South Wales north coast, and the site in our database, Delicate Nobby, is a shore-accessible reef on the north side of the headland. The reef sits at a consistent moderate depth, with visibility typically ranging between fifteen and twenty metres and mild currents on the sheltered side. The species list is notably diverse for a single site: grey nurse sharks, ornate and spotted wobbegongs, green sea turtles, common seahorses, robust ghost pipefish, seamoths, blind sharks, fiddler rays, and mourning cuttlefish are all recorded. Water temperatures follow north coast seasonal patterns, warmest in late summer and coolest in the cooler months.
