Stetson Bank is an offshore reef site in the Gulf of Mexico, part of the Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary and reached by boat from Freeport, Texas. The two sites in the database include the Stetson Bank reef itself and the Kraken Freighter, an artificial reef created by a sunken vessel. Depths run from seventeen metres to over sixty metres, with the Kraken Freighter requiring advanced certification due to depth and overhead environments. Visibility can reach forty-five metres at the reef, though surface layers can be less clear. Water temperature climbs from around eighteen or nineteen degrees Celsius in winter to twenty-seven or twenty-eight degrees in summer. Gorgonians, goliath grouper, green sea turtles, nurse sharks, and whale sharks are recorded here.
