Çeşme and Karaburun extend into the Aegean Sea west of Izmir and are noted for high visibility and a density of rays. The Monem, a seventy-five-metre cargo vessel resting between five and eighteen metres, is the headline wreck and suits divers of all levels. Rocky reefs, cave systems including The Bedroom with its surfacing cavern, and a dedicated freediving site at Egesub round out the variety. Diving is possible for most of the year, with January and February being the typical off-season. Recorded species include marbled electric ray, red coral, common octopus, and gorgonian.
