Öland is a Baltic Sea island off Sweden's southeast coast, and the sites in our database are shallow, shore-entry reef dives suited to beginners. Grönhögen Stenbrott is a former quarry now functioning as an artificial reef, Neptuni Åkrar is a coastal reef with variable currents, and Stora Rör is a very shallow site also accessible for snorkelling. All three can be reached from shore without a boat. The Baltic water here is cold in winter and warms to around sixteen or seventeen degrees Celsius in midsummer, with visibility that can be good in calmer conditions. Recorded species include harbour seal, bobtail squid, lumpfish, and monkfish.
