Gato Island is a small protected islet in the Visayan Sea, reached by boat from Malapascua. Its three sites include The Tunnel, an L-shaped cave system that passes beneath the island; Kimud Shoal, a reef and pinnacle site several kilometres offshore; and the main Gato Island dive, which combines reef, wall, and the through-cave. All sites are intermediate level, with strong currents and the overhead cave environment being the key factors that shape how dives are planned here. Water is warm throughout the year, peaking in the warmer months. Sea kraits and whitetip reef sharks are regularly encountered, and the cave system also draws macro photographers. Best conditions fall between November and May.
