Aramoana Reef, located within the northern section of the Te Angiangi Marine Reserve, offers a diverse underwater environment characterised by dense kelp forests and deep sandy guts. The site reaches depths between 9 and 36 metres, with an average depth of 12 metres. Snorkellers and divers can access the reef from both shore and boat. Conditions are influenced by the interplay of the warm East Cape current and the colder South Wairarapa Current, resulting in water temperatures ranging from 13C to 19C. The habitat supports a variety of temperate marine life and invertebrates. Be aware of sea urchins present in the area.
