Aramoana Reef, located within the northern section of the Te Angiangi Marine Reserve, offers a diverse underwater environment characterised by dense kelp forests and deep sandy guts. The site reaches depths between 9 and 36 metres, with an average depth of 12 metres. Snorkellers and divers can access the reef from both shore and boat. Conditions are influenced by the interplay of the warm East Cape current and the colder South Wairarapa Current, resulting in water temperatures ranging from 13C to 19C. The habitat supports a variety of temperate marine life and invertebrates. Be aware of sea urchins present in the area.

Blackhead Reef serves as the southern entry point to the Te Angiangi Marine Reserve. The site features extensive mudstone platforms that are exposed at low tide, which transition into deeper reef systems further offshore. Divers can explore depths ranging from 9 to 36 metres, with an average depth of 15 metres. Access is via a shore entry, and the site is suitable for intermediate divers. Conditions include mild currents and water temperatures fluctuating between 13C and 19C throughout the year. Parking facilities are available for visitors. Please be aware of sea urchins present in the area.
