Male and Hulhumale in North Malé Atoll offer some of the most accessible diving in the Maldives, with sites reachable directly from the capital and the airport island. The mix of site types is broad: the Maldives Victory, an eighty-metre cargo ship that sank in nineteen eighty-one, sits at depths between twelve and thirty-seven metres and is the area's signature wreck. Elsewhere, cave dives, reef walls, and shallow house reefs cater to all skill levels. Whitetip reef sharks, Napoleon wrasse, giant moray eels, and bluefin trevally are among the recorded species. Shore entry is available at several sites, making independent diving straightforward.
