Redang brings together natural reefs, pinnacles, walls, artificial structures and wreck elements across three sub-areas: Redang itself, the quieter Lang Tengah, and Bidong. Green Sea Turtle and Bluespotted Fantail Ray are observed across the majority of sites, alongside Titan Triggerfish, Giant Moray and a rich cast of reef fish. The area closes to visitors during the monsoon season, making the mid-year and shoulder months the window for calm conditions and strong visibility.

Water stays warm throughout the open season, peaking in the middle months and sitting comfortably warm at either end. The region closes during the northeast monsoon, so diving is concentrated from March through October. Conditions range from sheltered beginner reefs to exposed, current-swept pinnacles such as Tumbu Kili and Big Seamount, where stronger water movement demands more experience.

Several sites cater specifically to beginner divers, including Baby Shark Point, Mak Cantik, Bidong Jetty, Batu Bulan and Batu Kuching. These tend to be shallower reef sites with calmer conditions. More exposed sites such as Tumbu Kili, Pulau Yu Kecil and Unjang are rated intermediate or advanced due to depth, current or open-water exposure.
Redang itself holds the vast majority of sites and the full range of dive types, from shallow beginner reefs to deep artificial structures and pinnacles. Lang Tengah is a smaller sub-area with a handful of sites, offering a quieter alternative. Bidong is the most compact sub-area, with Bidong Jetty standing out as a beginner-friendly mix of natural reef, artificial structure and wreck elements.
The majority of dive sites in Redang require boat access, including all the deeper pinnacles, walls and offshore reefs. Shore entry is available at a smaller number of sites, notably Baby Shark Point and Marine Park Jetty.
