North Iceland's two database sites, Nupsstadargja and the Arctic Circle site near Dalvík, offer cold-water reef and artificial reef diving from both shore and boat. Depths range from very shallow to the mid-twenties in metres, and skill levels span beginner to intermediate. Visibility can be good, reaching thirty metres at Nupsstadargja. Water temperatures follow a pronounced seasonal curve, holding near freezing in winter and spring before rising to around ten degrees in the warmest summer months. Species associated with these sites include cod, lumpfish, king crab, feather star, brittle star, sculpin, and harbour seal.
