Eyjafjörður is a fjord in northern Iceland where all diving is by boat and suited to advanced divers only. The two sites in the database sit at the deeper end of recreational limits. Strýtan is a geothermal chimney system rising from a base of sixty-five metres to within reach of recreational depth, releasing freshwater at high temperature into cold fjord water and producing strong thermoclines and haloclines. Arnarnesstytur combines natural reef with artificial structures and also has hydrothermal chimneys. Species recorded here include Atlantic wolffish, cod, common lobster, king crab, lumpfish, and humpback whale. Diving is arranged through the one authorised local operator.
